WriteBoston enlisted Horan Communications to research and write a profile about its innovative partnership with the Chelsea (MA) Public Schools. The profile (PDF) highlights the design and impact of an initiative to improve writing and literacy instruction in the district’s middle schools. It features interviews with Chelsea teachers, administrators, and coaches, as well as leaders of WriteBoston.

WriteBoston’s work in Chelsea is yielding promising results, particularly in improving both the volume and quality of student writing. One teacher noted: “Classrooms are becoming much more student- centered. Teachers aren’t standing in front of the room lecturing. Instead, they’re facilitating lively conversations among students about what they’re reading and writing.”

This is the third partnership profile Horan Communications has produced for WriteBoston, having previously written about the organization’s work with Boston Community Leadership Academy and Greater Lawrence Technical School.
